The Incumbent Deputy Speaker of Ekiti State, Rt. Hon. Hakeem Jamiu, a highly distinguished man, and mylawmakers MAN OF THE MONTH of August, 2019 is 54.
Let’s Celebrate Hakeem Jamiu, otherwise known as Kimoo, a promise keeper, and one of the few politicians who don’t tell lies, but prioritize his People’s welfare and so, he deserves to be celebrated for many reasons as he added a year today.
He is a man with love of his people at heart and always ready to render assistance to people in need of one help or the other, irrespective of where they are from, religion, or relationship.
Brilliant, cerebral, cool headed, acomodating, handsome and complete gentleman, Hakeem will always listen to you even when he is going through some difficult situation in which he ought not to listen.
Hon. Jamiu, journalist turned politician who does not joke with the welfare of the people of his constituency declared in an interview with mylawmakers.com that he has avowed commitment to the welfare of his People with a promise to bring development and much government presence to their communities.
Representing Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State in the State House of Assembly, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hon.Jamiu made this declaration recently while going round on inspection of the projects he did for his people which scattered across communities in his Irepodun/Ifelodun Constituency 2.
The Lawmaker who despite not yet sworn in as an Honourable member of the State House of Assembly as at the time he was using his money to do all these for the benefit of his Constituents said, “My philosophy is to do all the good I can, at all the time I can and in whatever way I can”.
He disclosed that he has nominated over 100 youths across the state for the Industrial Training Fund Programme since 2014 and the recent set of trainees were nominated in October 2018 when he had not even won election to the House of Assembly.
Said he: “I nominated about 15 candidates who participated in the programme for three months between October and December 2018. It was the ceremony where they got their tools that was held.
“I have embarked on the repair of faulty boreholes in the 11 communities that make up my constituency. Four have been repaired in Igbemo, three in Afao, one in Are but the remaining borehole across the constituency shall also be fixed as this is an ongoing project.
“I have also been able to facilitate the repair of two damaged bridges in Igbemo Ekiti. One of the bridges linked Afao with Igbemo but it collapsed and the Fayose administration abandoned the people of the two communities to their fate and didn’t fix the bridge.
“The second one was in the middle of Igbemo town. The two bridges were fixed by Governor Fayemi after barely four months in office!
“I am doing all these to make life better for the people of my constituency and I will do more because that is my promise to them. I will attract many more projects to my constituency since it is not the duty of a lawmaker to execute projects.
“The water repair project is an exception because I am doing that from my own purse as I cannot bear the pains of my people looking up and down for water. Many of the boreholes have stopped working since 5 – 8 years ago.
“They should expect quality representation and happiness for the greatest number. God will help me”, he said.

In the State House of Assembly elections that followed in March 2019, his main opponent, the PDP Candidate withdrew from the race 10 days to the Election thus paving the way for him, even as he emerged unopposed with 99.8% of the votes cast as House of Assembly member-elect representing Irepodun-Ifelodun Constituency 2.
Hakeem is an extrovert but very unassuming. He cherishes friendship a lot and he is a team player and a bridge builder. He is very accommodating and tolerant but can be unpleasant to those who may take his simplicity for granted. He is an advocate of Ekiti core values of honesty, integrity, hard work, modesty, love for the books and other age long virtues which Ekiti is known for.
He is humane with a special
affection for children. He hates to see any child suffer. Hakeem is
married to Modupe Aisha Jamiu and they are blessed with beautiful children.

Congratulations to Hon. Kimooo
