President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, has alleged that the Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, had an ulterior motive when he evacuated stranded Nigerians from South Africa free of charge.
She made this comment in reaction to the indictment of Onyema by the United States Department of Justice.
Ripples Nigeria had reported that the Justice Department had in a statement over the weekend revealed that it had charged Onyema with bank fraud and money laundering.
He was alleged to have moved more than $20 million from Nigeria through United States bank accounts in a scheme involving false documents based on the purchase of airplanes.
Pointing out supposed reasons the Air Peace Chairman evacuated Nigerians who were stranded in South Africa during the xenophobic attacks, Onochie stated that she was never fooled by Onyema’s “heroism”.
In a series of tweets on Sunday, the presidential aide said she knew something was up, adding that the Air Peace boss knew America had him where they wanted him.
She wrote: “When the scales suddenly fall off their eyes, we must give it time because it’s either they are pursuing something or something is pursuing them.
“When AirPeace Proprietor became a “Hero”, I was not fooled. Something was pursuing him. He knew America had him where they wanted him.”
