Ogun state House of Assembly member Representing Yewa North 1, Hon. Adekunle Awoso, state constituency has accused governor Dapo Abiodun for not hastening up efforts at making Amotekun begin its operations in Ogun state.
Hon. Awoso stated this at the plenary under personal explanation where he talked about the state of insecurity in the state. He stated that Gov. Abiodun further delay in fasttracking the issues of Amotekun would have add more efforts to the existing security architecture in the state.
He furthered urged the governor ‘to fast track the issue of Amotekun so as to strengthen the security network within the State while noting that this will safeguard our Farmers from the activities of kidnappers and Fulani Herdsmen as the agrarian communities approach the dry season’.
Meanwhile, Hon. Awoso also raised a concern on the massive but needless security checkpoints along Ibeshe Dangote Plant to Igbogila, which has been severally attributed to border surveillance. He noted that the situation is sadly peculiar to Ogun West alone and these unwarranted duties have translated into financial extortion of innocent citizens by these security officers. Conversely, this development has made motorists to double their transport fare in order to break even & make ends meet.
The Speaker Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Olukunle Oluomo appreciate Hon. Awoso for his submission and promised to look into the matter.
