

An alarming report has emerged from Anambra as news surfaces of the abduction of Reverend Father Basil Gbuzuo, a well-known Catholic priest. The Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha disclosed this distressing development today, May 16, 2024.
The incident reportedly transpired on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024, at approximately 8 am along the Eke Nkpor-Obosi bypass. The announcement from the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha, relayed by His Grace, Most Rev. Valerian M. Okeke, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha, urgently calls on all faithful Christians and individuals of goodwill to fervently pray for the swift and safe release of the abducted priest.
Efforts to secure Fr. Gbuzuo’s freedom are being escalated by the Archdiocese, which has also entrusted his safety to the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Priests.
At present, there has been no communication established between the abductors and either the Archdiocese or the family of the kidnapped priest. Law enforcement agencies, including the police, have been alerted and are actively investigating the situation to ensure the safe return of Rev. Fr. Basil Gbuzuo.
The Catholic community, both in Anambra and beyond, is deeply saddened by this distressing development and is uniting in prayer and solidarity for the prompt and safe release of their esteemed priest.
