
Ministry of Women Affairs, CDIs collaborate for successful children day
The Permanent Secretary, Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs.
Foluke Adeyemo has urged Local Government Development Inspectors to
put in extra efforts to ensure that the forth-coming National
Children’s day celebration in the state is successful.
The Permanent Secretary gave the charge at a meeting she held with the
Local Government Development Inspectors (CDIs) on the 2019 National
Children’s day celebration and the process of constituting Children
Parliament in both the State and various Local Government areas.
Mrs. Adeyemo, who lauded Governor Kayode Fayemi for his love for
children and for promptly approving the National Children’s Day
celebration despite paucity of fund in the state, said that the
National Children’s Day was last celebrated in Ekiti State in 2014.
She therefore solicited full cooperation of the CDIs to record a huge
success during the celebration.
In her remarks, the Director, Child Development Department in the
Ministry, Mrs. Omotayo Olatilu disclosed that the Children Parliament
to be constituted will have a three-year tenure hence the need to
ensure that the Local Government areas Parliament are successfully
constituted before the National Children’s Day celebration when the
children selected at the local government level would be coming to the
State Capital to participate in the Children Parliament election.
Speaking on behalf of others, the Community Development Inspector of
Ado Local Government, Mrs. Dupe Dada assured of their readiness to
work in collaboration with every other stakeholder to make year 2019
Children Day Celebration a huge success.
She advised that the invitation letters to the Councils should get to
the CDIs very early to enable them process and take necessary approval
of the Coordinating Directors of each Local Government before the day.
