Nothing will be achieved by grandstanding and violence beyond bloodshed of innocent Igbo blood. By Bayo Ajaguna
In answer to the much asked question of why Nigeria would not just let Igbo people leave and start their own country, I have some very salient advise if this is the real objective-
- Every Igbo desirous of Biafra need to leave any part of Nigeria they currently are and go back home immediately. Begin to form a shadow government in Enugu, and let Nigeria see your determination to go and build your own nation, it is difficult for anyone to take someone shouting Biafra serious when he is living in Amuwo Odofin, or in Kano.
- To show that there is a general consensus for the new Biafra, Igbos need to have a referendum amongst themselves to show Nigeria clearly that majority of their people are in support of leaving. Right Now, it appears a few folks , mostly sore about the election loss are driving the narrative and may not be truly representative of the yearnings of their people.
- Let all Igbo elected officials and appointed public officers resign from the FG to show their firm commitment to the Biafra project. An Igbo man is number 2 in the senate and you have 6 governors and various ministers, let them speak and show that they identify with the position or let the general body of your people denounce them in a referendum if they don’t. Then you get your leaders to make and negotiate a peaceful exit from the Nigerian state.
Nothing will be achieved by grandstanding and violence beyond bloodshed of innocent Igbo blood.
