
OFFICE OF ONDO STATE STATISTICIAN GENERAL GUTTED BY FIRE.
The office of the Statistician General of the Ondo State Bureau of Statistics Mr Dayo Aregbesola has been hit by a fire outbreak resulting in loss of properties and documents of the agency.
According to feelers gathered from on the spot witnesses the fire was spotted after one of the security personnel on duty noticed thick smoke coming out through the windows of the office, situated in the heart of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget which incidentally is the supervising ministry.
On sighting the smoke oozing out from the window the security personnel alerted the Statistician General through a phone call while he equally put an emergency call through to the State Fire Services and being a Saturday the damage had been done before the fire was finally put out with the assistance of the few security operatives on duty.
Speaking after the incident the Statistician General Mr Dayo Aregbesola said the call he received from one of the security personnel stated that they noticed the fire when electricity was restored to the complex around 6.15am which he pointed must have been occassined by a power upsurge.
Mr Aregbesola however said the degree of the damage done could not be quantified as at the time of speaking with the press but he however mentioned that all relevant government authorities including the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget have been subsequently informed about the incident.
