Anambra State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) as losers, saying that the party lacks the manpower to pull victory in the next governorship election in the state.
He observed that all federal projects and infrastructure in Anambra State have been abandoned by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
According to him, the next level mantra of the APC government is a calculated attempt to cover up the incapacitated state of government.
Nwobu said in a recent statement: “The APC in Anambra State are not on ground to win the next governorship election in the area. The party is a loser.”
In a swift reaction, the Vice Chairman of APC in Anambra South Senatorial District, Mr. Izu Okeke, described the position of the PDP Chairman as unfortunate, insisting that the Federal Government projects and infrastructure were abandoned by the PDP government while the APC government is completing them.
He said: “Much as we would not want to join issues with the PDP chairman it is imperative to make the following clarifications:
“That the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari has not abandoned any Federal project in Anambra State.
*“That the second Niger Bridge project which was a campaign slogan of the PDP was abandoned by the regime of former President Goodluck Jonathan but today the project has reached advanced stage to the delight of Anambra people and other Nigerians.*
“That the Uga/Okigwe road project that has always been in the yearly appropriations of successive PDP governments in the country is currently being constructed.
*“That the Onitsha/Enugu express way which was awarded and flagged off towards the second term election of Olusegun Obasanjo to the CCC was re awarded by President Muhammadu Buhari administration to the RCC and Anambra people today can attest to the master piece of civil engineering being showcased by the contractors.*
“On the issue of the victory of the PDP in the last general election, Nwobu failed to appreciate the fact that Anambra voted for the PDP because of the Vice Presidential candidate of the party, Mr Peter Obi, who is from Anambra State.
“PDP should prove to Nigerians that they are on ground in the forthcoming governorship election, which indeed would show their absence and non-existence in Anambra State.
*“Be it also known to the PDP that under the administration of Muhammadu Buhari Anambra State got two ministerial appointments and Anambra is currently heading the office of the Administrative Secretary of PTAD, Mrs Chioma Ejikeme, and the Managing Director of Federal Inland Waterways, Chief George Muoghalu, also from Anambra State, and we are expecting more.*
“These appointments have indeed increased the political mileage of our great party, the APC, in Anambra State, which the opposition party is aware of.”
Okeke maintained that with such land mark achievements of the APC in the state, the PDP stands no chance of returning to the Awka Government House noting that the only obstacle in its way is the APGA government in the state.
He called on the general public to discountenance the spurious allegations and what he labelled as cheap propaganda being peddled by the PDP in the state.
