

The 10th National Assembly was inaugurated on the 13th of June, 2023. Newly elected members were confronted with the challenges of accommodation, renovation of office, and settling down for legislative business, which took some weeks to organize. Despite the initial difficulties and challenges, here is the scorecard of our Senator.
EMPOWERMENT AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
Senator Fasuyi hit the ground running and, by July, organized:
(1) Empowerment training skills for 100 youths of Ekiti North in livestock and poultry business and modern soap manufacturing technology. Each attendee, after the training, was given poultry birds and feeds, chemicals for making soap to begin small-scale businesses with a start-up capital in cash.
(2) The Senator in the same month and barely a month in the office also announced the appointment of ten people as Special Assistants on Students Matters, Youth development, Inter Party relations, Non- Indigenes affairs, traditional and elders affairs and women mobilisation to engage critical stakeholders on the areas of needs in their respective assignments and plan the execution with the Senator. They are being paid generous salaries every month.
(3) In August 2023, Senator Fasuyi distributed 500 bags of fertilizer to farmers in the five local governments of Ekiti North without party colouration. The fertilizers were deposited in each local government council secretariats for distribution to farmers.
(4) Training of three women from Ekiti North in the Adire Fabric by Ekiti First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji and Senator Fasuyi empowered them with a sum of #250,000.00 each to start up their own production. The Senator has also completed arrangements with the First Lady to sponsor (50) Fifty women for the Adire Fabric, and each trainee will also be given N250,000.00 as start-up capital.
(5) Facilitation of appointments of seven (7) Ekiti North Indigenes as Senior Legislative Aides in the office of the Deputy Senate President in the National Assembly
(6) Agriculture empowerment program where fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides ( Tamafit and Shoperkill), and spraying pump were distributed to over two hundred (200) farmers drawn from the five local governments of the district. Each beneficiary received N25,000 for seedlings
(7) Facilitation of appointments of many Ekiti North Indigenes as Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to Ekiti Governor through the benevolence of Mr. Governor as well as appointments of supervisors and advisers in the local governments.
SOCIAL WELFARE AND HEALTH ASSISTANCE
(1)Senator Fasuyi distributed items like rice, indomie noddles, vegetable oil, spaghetti, Maggie, salt, wheat, semovita, and cash to Constituents to celebrate yuletide seasons in December 2023. More than N120 million was spent on these items, including cash donations, to each of the 56 wards.
(2) Cash support of N7.5 million to all local governments Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates of All Progressive Congress in December 2023 for the local government elections.
(3) The Senator has also spent several millions of Naira in the interventions and treatment of Ekiti North Indigenes with critical ailments like kidney transplant, surgical operations and other ailments which he paid for without publicizing the names of beneficiaries. The beneficiaries know themselves and have been narrating the good stories to others.
Several tons of cash had also been donated for annual towns’ day celebrations of some towns in Ekiti North without media paparazi.
(4) Cash assistance to celebrants on the occasions of wedding, burial, church harvests, etc, in several millions across the Senatorial District.
(5) As a person who loves education and sees it as tool for self development, Senator Fasuyi gifted two Ekiti North Indigenes who made first class degrees in their discipline with a sum of #250,000 each and a promise of scholarship for further studies.
The giant strides also benefited 350 students with free JAMB FORMS and Ict trainings for them at Federal University Oye Ekiti to enable them to pass the JAMB examinations and secure admission effortlessly.
(6) Gifting of Ekiti North Muslims with a sum of Five Million Naira(#5m) to support them in the year 2024 Eid el Kabir celebrations.
LEGISLATIVE DUTIES
(1)Legislative Houses
(Powers and Privileges) Act (Amendment) Bill 2024 (SB408)
(2) A Bill for an Act to alter the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 to provide for an upward review of the derivation formular for the inclusion of solid minerals and hydro power in the derivation principle and for related matters. 2024 Bill (SB480)
(3) Sponsorship of a bill to amend the Pension Reform Act 2004 (SB463)
(4) Sponsorship of a bill to amend Tertiary Education Trust Fund (SB 459)
(5) Moved several motions and co-sponsored others and prayers on the floor of the Senate, one of which was the famous “LET THE POOR BREATHE”
(6) Facilitation of appointments of 15 Ekiti North Indigenes into Federal Civil Service, among which are Lawyer, Dentist, Education Officers Statisticians, Geologists, etc.
(7) Constant engagements with party structures and leaders in Ekiti North. All his activities are always routed through the party structures to the teeming members of the party. Constant mobilisation and giving dividends of democracy to the people is his trademark
(8) Renovation of Ilero Town Hall, Ifaki Ekiti – project ongoing. (estimated project cost N30 million minimum). This is a self funding project by the Senator.
CONSTITUENCY PROJECTS 2024.
(1) Enterprise and Vocational Skills Centre at Ido Osi Local government – contract for construction awarded.
(2) Youth Centres in Oye, Ikole, and Moba local governments – contract for construction awarded.
(3)Seven Hundred and Fifty (750) Solar lights to be distributed amongst communities. Installation to commence in the third quarter of 2024.
(4) Fifteen Solar powered boreholes for communities – Contract awarded.
May God continue to uphold and energize the Senator to do more as he approaches the second legislative year.
