My attention has been drawn to the unsolicited and unpatriotic advise by former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party’s in the last general elections that he should accept defeat and not contest the Court of Appeal verdict or it’s outcome. In his statement, Fayose advised Atiku Abubarkar to accept defeat and start preparing for the 2023 general elections.
This unwise and unpatriotic counsel by Ayodele Fayose did not come as a surprise to me because I have always known him to be double-faced fellow who is ever ready to negotiate his way out. Nigerians and Atiku Abubakar should discountenance Fayose as he is no longer relevant and is on his way to join APC. Fayose is eager to go join his fellow corrupt politicians in APC where he knows he will be gladly accepted. Fayose like others who have decamped to APC has a rich CV in corruption and is mindful of the fact that this government loves embracing such people. At this point, Fayose will do or say anything to avoid further prosecution from Buhari’s led government.
Over a year ago, I accurately predicted all that Fayose is displaying today. I predicted that immediately his immunity expires, he will stop criticizing the Buhari government and even strike a deal with them. I have not been proved wrong by the self acclaimed Osokomohole. Prior to this time, Fayose used to be a fierce critic of the current administration but has suddenly gone quiet. What has changed? Is Buhari no longer a failure?
At a time when we nation mourns the demise of the last hope of the common man -the judiciary over the sacrilegious judgment by the Court of Appeal and when all right thinking citizens are calling on the Supreme Court to save the image of the country and that of the judiciary is when Fayose decided to ask Atiku to concede defeat. What an irony? Isn’t it hypocritical that the former governor who pursued the Ekiti governorship election results alongside his political puppet whom he had imposed as successor up to the Supreme Court would advise Atiku against seeking Justice at the highest court?
If not for anything, I commend the former Vice President for seeking redress at the court rather than taking law into his hands after he was brazenly denied his mandate at the poll and court.
This unstateman-like statement by Fayose is a further testament to the fact that he desperately wants to be in the good book of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in order to avoid prosecution and he is desperately seeking political forgiveness. Lest we forget, this was the same Fayose who ran paid adverts on the pages of all newspapers in the country practically wishing Buhari dead.
It has become very obvious even to the blind that the APC has become a safe haven for corrupt politicians who seek to find shelter in the corrupt administration of the president. Buhari’s administration abets and encourages corruption, hence, why former governors and public officer holders are switching side in droves.
Finally, I urge Atiku Abubakar and his political party, the PDP to ignore the former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose and continue his democratic quest to recovering his stolen mandate as the only way a democracy can be strengthened is when we have a verily opposition.
God bless Nigeria.
