Rehabilitated Gossy Water Plant will provide employment for over 300
Ekiti youths – Olumilua
Ekiti State Government has disclosed that more than 300 youths will be
gainfully employed following the resuscitation of the Gossy Water
Production Plant.
Commissioner for Information, Tourism and Values Orientation, Aare
Muyiwa Olumilua, who made this known in Ado-Ekiti said thousands of
people would be indirectly engaged by the company through distribution
of the popular table water brand.
The Commissioner recalled that the company, which was established in
2001 by the Otunba Niyi Adebayo-led Government in partnership with
the UAC, really boosted the IGR of the State and created several job
opportunities for Ekiti people then.
Olumilua noted that the company became moribund after the first tenure
of Governor Fayemi in 2014 due to hostile attitude of the government
that followed to investors, and the resultant unfavourable environment
used for transacting business at the time.
Describing the revitalization of the company as a milestone in the
efforts of the administration led by Dr. Kayode Fayemi to revive
moribund projects in the State, the Commissioner affirmed that the
ripple effect of the development would not only enhance the
socio-economic wellbeing of the host community, it would equally
guarantee good governance in Ekiti State.
Olumilua added that the Water Production Plant would be expanded to
diversify into production of flavoured water and plantain chips,
amongst others which would be done under the brand name, ‘Gossy’.
The Commissioner solicited the support of all and sundry for the
efforts of the present administration in making the State tourists’
destination choice.
