Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Fulani Emir of Kano, has taken his place on the throne, receiving royal salutations from his subjects. This act defies a court order prohibiting his reinstatement.
Despite the joint security agency in Kano State declaring their intention to uphold the court’s decision, Sanusi emerged from the Emir’s inner palace to the outer palace, a traditional venue for receiving subjects and holding court. His appearance was met with jubilant cheers from hundreds of supporters as he majestically rode a horse.
Earlier, Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo addressed the media, asserting that the government’s decision to reinstate Sanusi was legal and final. He stated, “The so-called court order banning them from reinstating Sanusi was not officially submitted to them, and as at the time they did the reinstatement, it was after working hours, which shows that anything coming from the court on that matter is already late.”
