Development, Prof. Adio Folayan has cautioned the people of Ilejemeje
LGA against acts that may ruffle the prevailing
peace in the State as a result of the recent Supreme Court verdict &
the subsequent relocation of the Local Government Headquarters from
Iye-Ekiti to Eda Oniyo-Ekiti.
Prof. Folayan gave the warning in Ado-Ekiti at meeting with leaders of
both communities led by their traditional rulers, His Royal Majesty,
Oba Jonathan Adeleye Oni, the Oniye of Iye-Ekiti and Oba Julius
Oladipo Awolola, the Eleda of Eda-Oniyo.
Folayan stressed the need to allow peace to reign, noting that it was
difficult to achieve development in an atmosphere of rancor and
reaffirmed that the relocation process would be with immediate effect.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local
Government and Community Development, Mr. Sola Ogunmiluyi reiterated
the commitment of the Fayemi-led administration to the rule of law,
adding that the Supreme Court’s verdict was a terminal point for the
issue of the Ilejemeje Local Government Headquarters.
Mr. Ogunmiluyi appealed to all stakeholders to accept the reality of
the judgement.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Service
Commission, Mr. Mayowa Oyedeji commended the people in the two (2)
communities for maintaining peace throughout the court process.
Mr. Oyedeji who said he was one of the pioneer staff of the Local
Government Area, advised all stakeholders to continue living together
in peace and harmony.
