Khalifa Sall is freed through a presidential pardon.
The former Mayor of Dakar was jailed in 2018 to serve 5 years imprisonment after been found guilty on charges of misappropriating 1.83 billion CFA francs ($3.3 million, 2.8 million euros) — a charge he denied and which backers say was politically motivated.
