
Otitoju, a former chairman of the Lekki Residents Association, LERA clocked 70 on Monday May 5.
To celebrate, he organized a thanksgiving service where he was accompanied by close friends and family to give thanks to his maker for sparing his life.A celebratory party held thereafter.
One of the highlights of the party which held in Lagos was a lecture delivered by the University of Ibadan alumni association, Lagos chapter in the celebrant’s honour.
Guests took turns to pay tribute to the former Ekiti state commissioner for information, sports, culture and social development on his contribution to public service, media and community development.
“I met Otitoju about two years ago when I was trying to raise funds for my stage play, Fajuyi. I realized we have a lot of mutual friends. And what struck me is how principled he is especially in a time like this where we no longer have many of his kind in the country,” Joseph Edgar a media personality said.
“My friend is the chairman of Ekiti state Internal Revenue Service and he told me that Otitoju will go all the way from Lagos to Ekiti to physically pay his taxes. Who does that? My God,” Edgar exclaimed.
In his tribute, Femi Falana SAN commended Otitoju for his good works. He urged him to continue to intervene decisively in the affairs of Nigeria.In his vote of thanks speech, Otitoju, a former analyst of Arise News expressed his gratitude to the University of Ibadan alumni association, Lagos chapter who insisted on being a part of his celebration given how much he has done for the alumni.
He also expressed his happiness at being surrounded by friends who came from far and near to celebrate with him.A former board member of the securities and exchange commission, Otitoju is the Principal Consultant/CEO of TranspoLogistics Consultants.
He was a member of the National Planning Commission: a former member, National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan, NIIMP -Presidential Committee on Transport Thematic: Infrastructure Plans, Projects Monitoring, Evaluation between 2009 and 2012; a former member, Public Finance and Information Policy Formulation, Management Mentoring and Control.
As a politician, he contested elections to the senate in 2003; aspired to be governor in Ekiti State and contested in the primary in 2007. In 2011 he again tried his luck to go to the senate on the platform of All Progressive Congress, APC but was unsuccessful.
