DATA: THE NEW FRAUD BY TELEPHONE SERVICES PROVIDERS. By Eruobodo
Barr. Babatunde Irukera, again, I’ll drag you into this pervasive, yet silent, fraud by ALL GSM operators in Nigeria. The criminal/fraudulent deductions of subscribers data.
First, how do internet service providers calculate subscribers data consumption?
Second, how do subscribers verify that, of a truth, the GSM providers follow this stated format? Transparency!
Third, how do subscribers retrieve fraudulently deducted data from each data service providers?
For example, if a bank fraudulently takes a sum from your account, you can check and seek the return of your money? Why can’t there be similar formats with GSM data operators? Are data not in bytes? Isn’t a byte a unit of calculation?
Specifically, I noticed some 5 weeks ago that the rate of depletion of my internet data has tripled, DESPITE A CONSCIOUS REDUCTION IN MY ONLINE ACTIVITIES.
Again, specifically a week ago, last Sunday at 1:30am, I loaded 2.5gb of data, that normally takes 3weeks to a month, for me to deplete. As at 4am this morning, the data has disappeared, DESPITE my deliberate reduction in internet activities, to verify my suspicions about the existence of a software based defrauding system, in the 9Mobile operations.
Dear DG, we’re being “Yahooed”in billions monthly by these “MMM investors” and you agency is one of those set up to fight for us!!
My brother, please take a good look at these trends.
Sola Salako Ajulo complained about the same thing with MTN, weeks ago. Are we so helpless?
The amount of injustice I feel, if I had some software knowledge, I’ll make these people pay! I pray those who have make them pay!
Why? My calculations show that at an average of extra N4,000/month (stolen from me by 9Mobile), N50,000 of my money would be fraudulently skimmed by the GSM operators yearly?
Now imagine the network taking that amount off just 1m internet service subscribers? That’s a whopping N50bn!!!
