
Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Foluso Daramola has charged the 60 science teachers sponsored by the Ekiti State Government to the 60th Annual Conference of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) in Kano to be good ambassadors of the state during the 5-Day Conference.
The Commissioner gave the charge in Ado-Ekiti while addressing members of the contingent before their departure for the conference.
He charged the representatives not to see the conference as a jamboree but as a forum that will have positive impact on their productivity adding that the state Government will continue to build
capacity of teachers in the state for optimal growth and productivity.
He recalled steps taken by the Dr. Kayode Fayemi-led administration to improve the welfare of teachers as well as the teaching and learning environment in schools thus far to include regular payment of teachers’ salary, payment of core subjects and hard to reach schools allowances, renovation of schools and supply of instructional materials to schools among others, adding that these are attestations to the fact that Governor Fayemi is a teacher and worker friendly Governor.
The commissioner appealed to teachers to reciprocate government’s gesture by putting in their best to reposition education in Ekiti State.
While urging them to listen attentively to the papers that would be presented at the conference, he urged them to be security conscious during the conference.
Responding on behalf of members of the contingent, Mrs. Adeniyi Juliana Olanrewaju of Egirioke High school, Iyin-Ekiti and Mr. Yinka Jongbo of A.U.D. High School, Ado-Ekiti thanked the state government for the opportunity given them and promised to do the state proud at
the conference.
The 60th Annual conference of Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) will hold in Kano from 19th to 23rd, August, 2019.
