One can see the difference between the emotive writings of the political class and the First Lady humanist narratives and exhibition of leadership per excellence in her vantage. Her sociological approach, avoidance of selective and outright condemnation of the students without absorbing them either but tried to expose the latent truth that the Student’s temperance were somehow under control while she was at Oye-Ekiti.
She even affirmed the right for peaceful protest and insinuated the possibility of local thugs infiltrations. This is like mixing civilized approach into politics with core leadership without displaying unguided emotions as the supposed victim of the incident.
With the way Erelu Bisi Fayemi came out, the real issue that caused the unfortunate incidents should be looked into with the State Government using their long reached contacts to dig through the complaints of the Students and the University management involvement in the day to day running of the university that is in the eyes of the storm for some time now. Up till now, even after the unfortunate incident, the palpable silence of the University authority to react immediately to a trending issue like this signifies the signifier.
There were precedents of the unwholesome activities of the university management and staff that are not in tandem with Ekiti social re-engineering towards a resurgence of our lost values by the present Fayemi government. At the same time, we should not just narrow our reactions to mere condemnation of the students violent actions. The Federal University of Oye (FUOYE) is stinking and urgently calls for inward attentions by their supervisory Federal Minister. Reports had being published hitherto on this platform without anybody showing concerns. Probably taken as a Federal University but what happened now shows it concerns Ekiti-State as being situated on our soil. Ekiti proverb says, “Ain p’eri Petu, kan mo p’eri ibi ko do si”. Toto o se bi owe.
