Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has warned the newly appointed commissioners in his cabinet to desist from all forms of corruption so as not to taint the clean records his government has enjoyed in its first term.
He gave the warning in his address while administering oath of office and allegiance on them in Lokoja.
The Governor stressed that fiscal responsibility was necessary in his administration’s open door philosophy, noting that the current government has followed financial transparency laws and regulations over the last four years.
He called on the new appointees to allow the established legal frameworks and the new direction blueprint guide them in their conducts to ensure accountability.
The Governor, while further describing the new appointees as people that have convinced his government that they were innovative said their new position was a chance for them to prove it, saying government needs all the resources to pilot its affairs.
He said his administration will try to release appropriate funds to ministries on regular basis, just as he urged them to be prudent in the utilisation of state resources.
Governor Bello further paid gratitude to Almighty God for his successful assumption of second term in office and said it was time to justify the mandate by working tirelessly for the growth and development of the state.
The Governor then warned them against sliding the state back into the negative tendencies it had preached against in its first tenure, including tribalism, religious bigotry and any form of favouritism, stating that Ebira, Igala, Okun and other ethnicities within the state are one and the same.
