My name is Margaret Fagboyo, The special Adviser to Ekiti State Governor on Developmental Partnership & SDGs. I am a Gender Champion, a Social Development Adviser Affiliate and a passionate Youth Influencer, who is always interested and ready to contribute my quota to the development of our youths..
It is therefore my pleasure to join other stakeholders in Ekiti State to celebrate this year’s edition of United Nation’s (UN) International Youth Day.
This year, Ekiti State will be joining the Global World in commemorating and celebrating the 2020 International Youth Day.
The United Nation’s (UN) International Youth Day is celebrated on August 12 every year to recognize efforts of the world’s Youth in enhancing global society. The theme of this year International Youth Day Program is “Youth Engagement For Global Action.”
In Ekiti State, His Excellency Governor Kayode Fayemi and His amiable wife Erelu Bisi Fayemi believe that investing in youths is an investment in the future, realizing that the legacies we labour to build today can only be preserved and sustained if we have capable youths who are equipped take over the baton. A good measure of whether Government is delivering on its public services is whether those services are reaching the youths and vulnerable groups. That is the hallmark of Governor Fayemi’s current administration in Ekiti State. The idea of the society is replenished by the creative and innovative ideas of the youth to break barriers and extend the frontiers of knowledge. Youths are therefore very critical in the implementation of the SDGs.
Ekiti State Development Partnership Office, Ekiti State SDGs and Ekiti Ministry of Youths and Sports is collaborating in organizing year 2020 International Youth Day Program.
Considering the COVID-19 Pandemic and directive from the UN to adopt virtual programs and events in celebrating this year international youth day program m, we have carefully put all this into consideration.
Ekiti state will be starting this year celebration of international Youth Day Program with a 17 Days Social Engagement Count- Down To reach more youths virtually about the 17 SDGs Goals, it’s 169 targets and 230 indicators.
On Wednesday 12th August 2020 a youth stakeholders engagement forum will be held which will be a platform where youth leaders will be a sensitised and engaged with UN Sustainable Development Goals activities of Ekiti State SDGs in Youth Development and how they can take ownership of the Goals.
Finally speakers for this year 2020 International Youth Day have been carefully selected from the circles of Global Social Impact makers whose presentations during this year 2020 international Youth Day Program will help in inspiring Ekiti Youths to take global action in the domestication, implementation and localization of the Sustainable Development Goals in Ekiti State.
On behalf of His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Ekiti State, we wish you Happy International Youth Day 2020.
