The participants who converged at the MIM KOLTURE HOTEL, Omuo Ekiti, drawn from across the 177 Wards comprising the 16 local Government Areas of Ekiti State, were trained in various vocational skills such as Cake Baking, Soap and Paint Making among others
Earlier in his Address, Dr Olalekan Bankole PhD, the Senior Research Officer of the IPCR who led the Training Team from Abuja said the essence of the training was to ensure peaceful and cohesive coexistence of every Nigeria citizen.
The Senator, Mrs Biodun Olujimi who facilitated the programme said, she, “decided to extend the exercise beyond the South Senatorial District to collaborate with other stakeholders and opinion leaders across the state to work for peace, prevent violence, respect differences and more importantly, to achieve a level of self-reliance among the teeming unemployed citizens across Ekiti State.”
Kunle Aina, the state coordinator of the programme stated that the participants were duly trained in Conflict Management and Alternative Dispute Resolution Methodology. He said, “Peace is not the absence of conflicts but ability to settle disagreement through peaceful means and peace has remained the necessary condition for security and social development.”
One of the participants, Mr Akingbade, a retired School Administrator from Ilawe in Ekiti Southwest Local Government of the state, said; “I have learnt more today. I can now conveniently make Soap of different shapes and application of deodorants. Now I can sufficiently and profitably spend my retirement. God bless Senator Biodun Olujimi for facilitating this laudable programme.” Akingbade said:
