Nollywood actress, Kemi Lala Akindoju, has confirmed her latest international feature in Walt Disney’s movie: “Rise.”
The actress, who stars in the film alongside veteran actress, Joke Silva, confirmed the development on her Instagram page.
Akindoju also doubles as the film’s Nigerian casting Director.
Akindoju wrote: “RISE @disneyplus Original movie based on the real life experiences of Milwaukee Bucks Star, Giannis Antetokounmpo and his family will Debut in 2022.
“Family. Dedication. Devotion. So excited and honoured to have worked on this production in two capacities: Nigeria Casting & Acting.”
The actress also paid a tribute to deceased singer, Sound Sultan, for introducing her to young Nigerian basketball players.
Akindoju added: “To the late Sound Sultan who connected us with some amazing young basketball players when we started the search- thank you bro.”
The movie was partly shot in Nigeria and directed by Akin Omotoso.
Rise follows the life and family of the Milwaukee Bucks star following his parents emigration from Nigeria to Greece.
Rise will star real life brothers Uche and Ral Agada as the young versions of Giannis and Thanasis, while other cast members include Jaden Osimuwa, Elijah Shomanke, Dayo Okeniyi, Yetide Badaki, Vera Manish Dayal, Taylor Nichols, Maximiliano Hernandez, Eddie Cahill, Pilar Holland and McColm Kona Cephas Jr.
Disney studio confirmed on Thursday that the film would debut on its streamer Disney plus on a yet to be confirmed date in 2022.
