It is disheartening to witness the continued barrage of unsubstantiated attacks and baseless accusations launched by Mrs. Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi against His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, especially considering the context of her claims.
From the onset of the Ekiti governorship primary process, Mrs. Olawumi has seemingly made it her sole mission to smear the reputation of Governor Oyebanji, who, having garnered the full support and trust of the APC party in Ekiti, has been selected as the consensus candidate for re-election in 2026. This overwhelming endorsement is a reflection of his remarkable leadership and commitment to the people of Ekiti State. Yet, in what can only be described as a series of misguided attempts, Mrs. Olawumi has taken to social media daily, engaging in a one-sided campaign to malign the governor’s character, leadership, and legacy.
It is one thing to express dissent, but to resort to spreading venomous and unfounded attacks against a public figure especially one who has been overwhelmingly endorsed by his party and people is both irresponsible and reckless. Her actions border on character assassination, as she continuously attempts to paint the governor in a negative light, using hyperbole, distortion of facts, and personal bias.
Governor Oyebanji’s achievements speak for themselves. Under his leadership, Ekiti has experienced growth and progress that cannot be denied. The decision to re-elect him for a second term is not one that was taken lightly, but rather reflects the confidence placed in his ability to continue leading Ekiti toward greater prosperity.
Yet, Mrs. Olawumi seems determined to obscure this narrative with her personal vendetta, refusing to acknowledge any of the governor’s contributions to the state. Her commentary is not just a challenge to his policies or governance but a direct attack on his character something that should not be tolerated, especially when it is done without any basis in truth.
It’s time for Mrs. Olawumi to reflect on the damage she’s causing not only to the reputation of the governor but to the integrity of the political discourse in Ekiti. Rather than spewing daily vitriol, it would be more constructive for her to engage in dialogue that promotes unity and progress. It’s not too late for her to realize that a campaign of hatred and falsehoods has no place in a society that values truth, leadership, and integrity.
Governor Oyebanji’s vision for Ekiti remains clear: a state where development, inclusivity, and growth are at the forefront of his administration’s agenda. His re-election bid is not a matter of personal ambition but a collective desire for continuity and sustained progress for the people of Ekiti. Mrs. Olawumi’s attempts to derail this vision will ultimately fail because the truth is stronger than any falsehood she can attempt to propagate.
BAO till 2030……God’s divine project indeed
