Abiodun Borisade (aka Boris): Good morning esteemed Prof sir,
1. What’s the implication for vehicle insurance?
2. What safety regime is in place to ensuring strict compliance to installation procedures & after care, maintenance, knowing how our local mechanics will tamper with mechanisms…

3. The aggressive campaign for conversions tending in some quarters to appear Coerced will invariably create avoidable pressure
4.The technology still requires total efficacy to “The #Nigerian challenge”Local mechanics tinkering 😂All I’m saying is as long as the manufacturer didn’t add that feature, think twice before converting—-

Bolaji Aluko Responds:
Thanks for your inquiry, Boris.
1. Always think twice before doing anything to your car – or to yourself!
2. Always disclose everything about your car or your health to insurance.
3. Actuarially, CNG-converted vehicles have shown no increased fire or driving safety risks.
4. Not ANY mechanic can:
(A) get a hold of the conversion kits. These kits have to be certified. Of course, fake ones can soon arrive.
(B) Get the cylinders. They have to be certified. Of course fake ones can soon arrive, but cylinder must match kit.
(D) Carry out the conversion. They will have to be specially trained, and then certified by NADDC/SON.
5. So, ultimately, the customer must ask and confirm for-a certified mechanic, who should be using certified kits and -certified cylinder. You cannot be more assured than that.
6. No customer should or can be coerced to convert to CNG, no matter how “aggressive” the campaign is. Remember than you still have the option of remaining with your gasoline or diesel, or using both in hybrid mode. Pocket-book considerations will determine the decision, ultimately.
There you have it.—–
