The Abia State Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) located at 45 Finbers Road, Umuahia, was sealed on Wednesday by individuals believed to be officials of the Umuahia Capital Development Authority (UCDA). The closure occurred without any official explanation, leaving party members and the public puzzled.
A notice posted on the sealed building directed the occupants to visit UCDA’s office at 51 Ogurube layout, Umuahia, for further information. The lack of a disclosed reason for the closure has fueled speculation and raised questions about the motives behind such actions.
Meanwhile, the Abia State chapter of the PDP is demanding the immediate swearing-in of Aaron Uzodike as the representative for Aba North constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly. The party expressed concern over the prolonged vacancy, emphasizing that the Appeal Court had declared Uzodike as the rightful winner of the March 18 election, ousting Destiny Nwagwu of the LP.
In a statement signed by Abraham Amah, the party’s Vice Chairman/Acting Publicity Secretary, the PDP decried the delay in Uzodike’s induction, labeling it as an act of impunity. Amah highlighted that Uzodike possesses the necessary Certificate of Return issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the court ruling, making him the legitimate representative for Aba North.
The PDP is now questioning the Speaker’s reluctance to administer the oath of office and fulfill the rightful representation of the people of Aba North in the Abia State House of Assembly.
