On Sunday night, gunmen believed to be kidnappers infiltrated Sagwari Layout Estate in the Dutse axis of Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, seizing eight residents in a well-coordinated operation.
The assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, silently breached the estate around 11:47 pm, discreetly avoiding any gunfire to evade detection by vigilant neighbors. According to a distressed witness, the gunmen gained access through the estate’s back fence.
Residents were caught off guard as the assailants targeted specific flats, abducting eight individuals at gunpoint. The witness revealed that the attackers executed the operation quietly, ensuring minimal noise to prevent raising the alarm.
Adding to the gravity of the situation, the security guard on duty was overpowered and bound with a rope before the gunmen fled the scene. They also confiscated his phone, leaving the estate temporarily cut off from outside communication.
Once the gunmen made their escape with the victims, concerned residents alerted security operatives. Presently, law enforcement agencies, in collaboration with other security forces, are actively pursuing the perpetrators in a bid to rescue the kidnapped individuals and bring the culprits to justice.
Despite attempts to seek information from the FCT Police Command, SP Adeh Josephine, the spokesperson, had not responded to inquiries by the time of filing this report.
