As the political stakeholders in the Ekiti 2026 gubernatorial elections start warming up, various hypothesis are being put forward. The seemingly likelihood of Ekiti state becoming a one political party state under Gov Oyebanji is up for discussion…
In an early morning WhatsApp group chat, the re-election bid of Gov Oyebanji took another dimension when elder party man Olu Aluko coined a new street parlance “2030 AB….(After BAO)”I pray a lengthy life for myself and even Mr Gov oh!!!Well Mr Gov still has about 48 months to prove himself the Messiah that egbon Aficonene professes Oyebanji to be.
Below is an extract from the group chat…Even in Israel that is a homogeneous country sort of as per majority are Jews we don’t have a one party state for they practice democracy ..and party politics is one of the pillars of democracy .
However we can have a party in power for a long stay like it happened in the UK when the conservatives were in power for awhile (I believe 25 years ) around the Thatcher era?) Nigerians Ekitis included are restless people we constantly look for change more so now .
But political laziness and impatience is affecting our building of a viable opposition . So we now believe it’s easier ,quicker and faster to fight within one party rather than risk building an opposition that is being sabotaged from within The Wikes and the Fayose s of this world are further complicating the matter . They have refused to leave the PDP party and dividing it from within and seems can’t be stopped for they have further backing from the ruling party .
The irony is that what they are doing will eventually infect the ruling party for some may not leave but play exactly the same mean politics Wike them are playing within the APC.In Ekiti I see that after 2030 AB….(After BAO) The Dynamics may change the doctrine of inclusivities downside (for everything has a downside) is that it de emphasizes party politics and gravitates more towards individuals.
