The spokesman of the Anambra State Police Command, Haruna Mohammed, said the Command had launched full scale investigation into an incident in a video clip where a police officer shot and deflated tyres of a vehicle at Umunze.
In a statement on Wednesday, the police spokesperson expressed sadness over the police officer’s misconduct at Nkwo roundabout, Umunze.
Mohammed said: “The attention of Anambra Police Command has been drawn to a video clip that went viral in the social media on April 14.
“There, a Police officer allegedly shot and deflated the front tyres of a Mazda CX-9 4WD with registration AKD 277 FM driven by one Nnaemeka Offor at Nkwo roundabout Umunze in Orumba South LGA of Anambra.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP John Abang is deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident and has ordered for a full scale investigation into the matter.
“The CP further assures the public that justice would be done in the case and the outcome of Police investigation would be made public in due course please.”
