
Court Remands ADC Assembly Candidate Over Alleged Rape
The candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for the House of Assembly, Ado Ekiti Constituency 1, Ayodele Babatola, has been remanded in the prison custody by a magistrate court sitting in Ado Ekiti.
Babatola was arraigned by the Ekiti State Police Command, through the Criminal Investigative Department for allegedly raping a woman whose identity was witheld.
Presiding Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun ordered that Babatola should be remanded in prison custody pending the issuance of advice by the Directorate of Public Prosecutions DPP.
Police Prosecutor, ASP A Oriyomi had earlier told the court, that Babatola committed the offense on the 24th of May, 2026 in an undisclosed hotel in Ado Ekiti.
Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun adjourned the case to the 26th of June 2026.
Council to the defendant, Owoseni Ajayi vowed to secure the bail of the defendant at the High Court.
