Be gracious to your predecessors, Fayemi’s wife advises incoming First Ladies.
As Buhari’s wife commends Erelu and others for meritorious service. Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi has urged in coming wives of state governors to be gracious and give respect to their
predecessors in office admonishing that they also become ex-First
Ladies and need their successors to treat them well.
Erelu Fayemi who revealed that managing the office of the First Lady
to the Governor demands hard work and sacrifice in spite of the
glamour and respect the public accords a governor’s wife, added that
the outgoing governors’ wives should be appreciated for standing with
their husbands through their tenures in office.
Erelu Fayemi made the remarks during a Dinner and Award night in
honour of incoming and outgoing Nigerian First Ladies organized by
Nigeria’s First Lady, Hajia Aishat Buhari at the Banquet Hall
Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the event, she said: “This Dinner
and Award night organized by Her Excellency, Dr. Aishat Buhari is a
good initiative and it has been a wonderful evening. For the sisters
who are departing, I appreciate their dedication, hard work and
sacrifice, what the people see is the glamour but it is really a hard
work to be the First Lady of the governor. So I appreciate them
“To the incoming First Ladies, I congratulate them and I like to
encourage them to respect the Former First Ladies, be gracious to them
and treat them with respect. They should remain in touch with the
former first ladies and treat them with respect because in another
four years they will also become former First Ladies” , she said.
