Erelu at 57: to inaugurate ‘reading parents on radio’ with covid-19
sensitization
The Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) is set to
commence another radio programme tagged ‘Reading Parents on Radio’
with the maiden edition dedicated to celebrate the 57th birthday of
the Wife of Governor, Her Excellency, Erelu Bisi Fayemi.
A statement made available to newsmen by the Executive Chairman of the
Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof Francisca
Aladejana said the live programme, which is part of efforts of the
State Government to promote reading culture amongst school-age
children and youths in the state, will be aired on Ekiti FM 91.5 on
Tuesday, 9th June, at 4.00 pm.
The maiden edition of the programme would feature Her Excellency, the
Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Her Excellency, Erelu Bisi Fayemi who
would read a passage on the Corona Virus Pandemic.
She explained that the ‘Reading Parents on Radio’ is designed to
promote the culture of mentoring of youths in their formative years
and encourage them to acquire love for books and reading culture which
will contribute to their subsequent reading success.
The programme is expected to aid mental stimulation and memory
improvement, reduce stress particularly during the current lockdown
occasioned by the Corona virus pandemic.
The programme according to the SUBEB boss is also expected to boost
knowledge, expand vocabulary of stakeholders, improve focus,
concentration and memory as well as boost better writing skills of
listeners.
Parents and guardians are therefore advised to ensure that their
children and wards benefit from the new innovation by tuning in to the
programme.
She disclosed that copies of the test books to be read would be
distributed to the 16 Local Government Education Authorities.
