Elon Musk has called on parents to cancel Netflix, saying the platform has become a cultural threat to children.
Replying to a viral post by DogeDesigner that carried an image of Netflix as a Trojan horse sneaking a “transgender woke agenda” to kids, Musk wrote: “Cancel Netflix for the health of your kids.”
The post quickly sparked heated debate on X, with some users backing Musk’s warning, many cancelling their subscription, and others accusing him of hypocrisy.

Kisalay argued that entertainment is no longer neutral, saying, “Content isn’t neutral anymore. It used to entertain. Now it’s designed to shape beliefs quietly over time. Kids don’t always notice the shift. Parents often miss it, too. But culture works like slow water erosion. It doesn’t crash overnight. It changes the foundation inch by inch.”
Another user, Charles Snarkley, dismissed Musk’s intervention, saying, “this dude is the last guy that should be preachin bout how to keep your kids from bein trans.”
Eduardo Borges took a different angle, pointing out that dangerous influence comes from social media as much as streaming platforms.
“Why would I cancel my Netflix because of a weird trans show? You obviously shouldn’t let your kids watch that garbage, and that’s it. I’m sure there’s shit like that on X as well, and here we are, paying for premium,” he wrote.
He added that influencers like Andrew Tate, amplified on X, have done more damage to teenagers than Netflix shows.
Kisalay doubled down, insisting that protecting children goes beyond censorship.
“Guarding kids isn’t about censorship. It’s about understanding what stories are being told and why. Entertainment has become a cultural delivery system. Once you see it that way, a lot of ‘harmless’ content starts looking different,” he said.
Musk’s comments add to growing cultural disputes over children’s exposure to gender and identity debates, with streaming platforms like Netflix often at the centre of the storm.
