
Sequel to the executive Order by Dr John Kayode Fayemi led administration on Friday 20th March 2020, today Sunday 22nd witnessed citizens taking ownership of the government initiative and effort at ensuring compliance with the directive. The Ministry of justice had clearly indicated readiness to treat as misdemeanor with attendant consequences to would be offenders.
At various locations including worship centres, motor parks and the streets could be sighted government officials and concerned citizens on both enlightenment and enforcement activities. The chair person Ado local government (Mrs Fajuyi) personally enforced the ban at some worship places where there were infractions.
The state’s Peace Corps officials led by their commandant Mr Dele Owoju also embarked on enforcement activities with his team after reconnaissance report indicated non compliance at certain areas within the metropolitan.
From Monday 23rd March 2020, the Ekiti Taskforce @Ekiti_COVID19 will give regular updates at 2:00 pm every 48 hours at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Ministry of Health & Human Services @UleraEkiti, State Secretariat to keep the public informed of new developments
By and large, the level of self adjustment by citizens to the Executive Order, a government life saving initiative is expected to reach nearly 95% compliance level in the nearest immediate as law enforcement agents have expressed readiness to save the fabric of Ekiti society by limiting the chances of further spread of COVID-19 in the state.
All government officials are to ensure compliance in their neighborhood.
