

….Citizens of Moba, Efon, Ido-Osi, Irepodun-Ifelodun, Ado, Ikere and other LGAS receive EKSG Food Bank Relief package with Prayers.
Sequel to the flagoff of Ekiti State Government Food Bank initiative targeting especially the vulnerable in society by Gov Fayemi on Monday 6th April 2020 at the government house grounds, the 16 local government chairmen upon securing their various portions from the state government’s stock commenced a “house to house” distribution based on a worldbank and federal ministry of finance accredited list of indigent and vulnerable citizen data.
This action by Gov. Fayemi led administration was borne out of compassion to ameliorate the hardship associated with the “Stay at home Order” (restricted movement) put in place to curb the spread of Corona virus within the state. EKiti State governor Dr Kayode Fayemi expectedly thereby extended kindness to residents in the State by distribution of food items targeting 20,000 vulnerable households. Gov Fayemi stressed that the program is mainly for the Indigents/less fortunate in the society irrespective of political affiliation.
At Moba local government, community leaders while expressing appreciations to the governor on the palliative measure, prayed for the success of the administration, they also prayed for containment of the deadly virus ravaging the world at large. Christian and Islamic prayers were offered by clerics present before distributing the items to Indigents across the various households.
Head of Moba Muslim Community, Alhaji Salami Onipede appreciated the governor for “always remembering the grassroots”.
Monarchs were also in attendance to observe distribution of the items. Among the traditional rulers present at Moba Local government Secretariat in Otun Ekiti were Oba Joseph Afolabi Adeoye, Obanikosun of Ikosun EKiti and Oba Olusegun Adewumi,Onigogo of Igogo Ekiti.
Flagging off the distribution of the items to Moba Vulnerable households, the Chairman Moba Local government, Honourable Aborisade Michael Adebayo appreciated God Almighty for sparing Moba LGA from recording any positive corona virus case in their constituency, he prayed for the continuous protection of God on his people and Divine support on the administration of governor Kayode Fayemi. The thrust of the chairman’s message anchored adherence to a strict hand washing regime and where possible, the application of hand sanitizers.
The local government boss said “I appreciate the governor for his kind gesture, he gave each local government area in the State sumptuous quantities of food items which are to be distributed amongst vulnerable citizens across the state, with this, we chairmen at grassroot level are empowered to replicate what he did in the state capital also at the grassroots by ensuring the intended recipients are taken care of. The government in doing this despite paucity of funds, analyzed how the items would be distributed in a way that no indigent would be left out in the State. Beneficiaries in Moba Local government included Pa Adeniyi James, aka Okebiorun, Pa Abolarin Joseph, Mrs Mary Jegede among others.
Residents in Efon Local government area of Ekiti state were equally catered for in the food relief package from the state government.
Distributing the items to the beneficiaries, the local government Chairman, Engineer Stephen Olabode Adetunji said the sharing formula was not based on political affiliations; he commended Gov Fayemi for having the interest of the masses at heart.
Engineer Adetunji said “Efon town is contiguous to Osun state where there are several index cases, but we don’t have any case, the sensitization process from state level through to grassroot has been great, kudos also to our town announcers/criers ,our people here adequately adhered to the preventive measures that mitigated the possibilities of further spread of the virus.
The beneficiaries among whom were Mrs Dorcas Oni, Pa Odunayo Azees, Adebayo Joseph, Isiah Okunola expressed appreciation to the governor and the local government Chairman with prayers and good Will messages.
On his 100 days in office, the local government boss who analysed his achievements so far said “Though I had a brief health Challenge before my election, but to the glory of God, it was Surmountable.
“Security of lifes and properties is crucial to any government, in the last 100 days, Efon has been peaceful, we have plans to achieve in line with the policy of the administration of governor Kayode Fayemi – restoring the value, Gov Fayemi in the past one year has restored the value in Ekiti, our duty as local government Chairman is to sustain the value .
“For instance, we have been able to grade roads leading to farmsteads in Efon too aid agriculture, several roads to many farmsteads have been graded , still ongoing, to enable farmers bring farm products easily to town.
” Moribund LG Vehicles have been repaired and put back on the roads, the governor gave us a marching order to generate funds for self-sustenance, we have repaired graders to enable revenue generation, we even lend graders to some local governments.
” Our legislative building is under construction, the immediate plan is to complete it in earnest, the policy of Gov Fayemi’s administration is that there must be basic Health centre in all the wards in the State, ward 7 in Efon didn’t have medical center before, but now within my 100 days in office functional health center has been built in the area”.

In Ikere Local government beneficiaries in Ugele Arokun area of Ikere Ekiti included Mrs Bosede Amunimo, Eunice Oluyede, Pa Babatunde Ojo, Mrs Florence Ajitewa, Mrs Adefunke Jimoh, Mrs Silifat Bello, Mrs Babalola Elizabeth, Mrs Abike Dada, Mrs Folasade Agbemeesin .
Beneficiaries in other areas in the community included Pa Akinola Ojo, Pa Ariyo Ezekiel, Mrs Ajemole Abiodun, Pa Alabi Matthew, Pa Clement Adewumi , Mrs Toluwaye Adeyemi, Pa Arije Gabriel, Mrs Eunice Adeniyi, Mrs Oluyede Elizabeth, Ibilola Adebanjo, Mrs Dupe Adefiluade, Roder Adebayo, Pa Amos Adesoro, Mrs Adijat Lawal, Mrs Florence Akinola and many other Indigents.
They all expressed appreciations in form of prayers and good messages to the governor.
The Vice Chairman Ikere Local government Mrs Toyin Afolabi explained that the distribution of the items were not based on political coloration or sentiment. “His Excellency, Governor John Kayode Fayemi devised the program for the benefit of all vulnerable resident in Ekiti to cushion the hardship of the outcome of the preventive measures put in place in tackling spread of the pandemic.
The Chairman Ikere Local government, Hon Ayodele Oluwafemi commended the governor for the initiative. Oluwafemi said “Governor Fayemi has tried a lot, we went out today to distribute the items to the various vulnerable households in Ikere Local government. They all appreciated the governor. The sensitization Program earlier conducted by the governor in the State was strictly adhere to by people in this community, so the deadly disease has no place in the local government by the grace of God .We pray that the entire world will overcome the pandemic”.
