There is no any colouration to this daylight robbery than to face the fact that the northerners has hijacked Okada tickets sales from Acomoran/Amoran in Ijebuode !
When one Adedamola Adetayo , a fiery pro Yoruba activist raised this issue weeks back, it was fiercely denied by the Acomoran in their press release, but when the Investigative desk of Ikokore Reporters visited Abeokuta road by Ashafa street junction and other parts of Ijebuode township, we can confirm that the northerners are in perfect and firm control of okada ticket sales and many of them are even Generals within the union.
Now, these northerners are gradually pushing out the Yorubas from this lucrative business by owning over 99% of okada motorcycles, the cyclists, bike sales, personalised tickets for northerners alone and also have their own bouncers.
Whenever they felt disturbed , they withdraw their services and bikes from the streets leaving commuters stranded, that’s how the once powerful Acomoran/Amoran due to gluttony and greed became spectators on their own soil.
What made it even worse, it’s the dearth of Yoruba riders who have turned ticket sales touts, preferring to be ticket enforcers instead of riders.
Now that they have Okada business firmly in their pouch, they are gradually migrating into tricycle business now and in no time they take control again.
Who is to be blamed for this anomaly?
One, the youths who are becoming too lazy and are now into drugs, fenuja alcohol, yahoo, cultists and generally doing ‘alright sir’ to feed these dangerous habits.
Secondly, the ostentatious lifestyle of Acomoran/Amoran leaders that reduced riders to hewers of wood and drawers of water has discouraged many youths from riding Okada which comes with frivolous and illegal taxes,so they also want to become ‘Chairman ‘.
Thirdly, the government has weaponised the transport union into its political strategy that sees it as a compensation to their thugs.
Finally, the suspicious loose money from the north has given these northerners the edge to purchase brand new and very expensive motorbikes on cash down basis where their Yoruba counterparts are still arguing with hire purchases.
A visit to Ita Alapo area where there are multitudes of these foreigners disguising as Hausas revealed that most of these new comers among them will arrive Ijebuode, buy brand new motorcycle cash down and start Okada riding same day !
Residents of this area are often bewildered by their flaunting of huge cash most especially for someone (mostly under 25years) that just dropped from the back of Dangote trailer with dozens of them possessing over N3m cash to buy bike!
Unlike before when northerners restricted themselves to Sabo alone, not so again as they have now flooded every street of the town and their lifestyles hardly resembles the typical Hausas that one is used to before because from hairstyles, dressings to mannerisms, they are different to the extent of their not too ‘religioness’ because they hardly pray five times daily.
The most dangerous part of this is that they are generally aggressive and violent when it comes to interacting with their customers, an attitude not generally shared among peaceful Hausas known before.
A similar case occurred sometimes ago around Tireni Supermarket on Awujale Street when they rebelled and started attacking every motorists until the police were eventually invited to quell the fracas.
Presently, these northern cabals control both the Acomoran and Amoran including government officials in charge of its supervision.
Their words is order as they can withdraw their bikes and men from the streets instantly and the daily bread of these over bloated chairmen is gone. That’s why they pacify them whenever they get angry and the LG too can not effectively control and supervise them as long as their tolls keep trolling into their private pockets.
