No fewer than 885 ward delegates have been elected in Ekiti State to participate in today’s governorship primaries election of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Each of the 177 wards across the 16 Local Government Areas elected five delegates during a meeting held on Saturday. These delegates will elect and confirm Governor Biodun Oyebanji as the APC’s candidate for the governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026. This event will take place at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti.

Four candidates initially applied for nominations, but only Governor Oyebanji will go before the delegates for confirmation. Two candidates, Kayode Ojo and Abimbola Olawumi, are disqualified, and Mrs. Oluremi Omolayo has withdrawn from the race. The National Working Committee has informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) about the confirmation process.
To keep the event safe, Commissioner of Police Joseph Eribo warned people not to cause trouble near the venue. He stated that enough police officers will be present for security. Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, confirmed that INEC officials will attend to monitor the confirmation process.
