Ekiti Commissioner warns residents against blocking drainages, water paths
With the commencement of rainfall in Ado-Ekiti metropolis, residents
of the area have been warned to resist the temptation of dumping
refuse in drainages and water paths to forestall unnecessary flooding.
The Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources,
Mr. Gbenga Agbeyo gave this warning at an interactive session with
Journalists in the state capital.
Agbeyo, who expressed the present government’s passion for the
well-being of its citizens, said necessary machineries to ensure
regular clearing of various wastes generated in the state had been put
in place.
The Commissioner who said the Kayode Fayemi-led administration would
leave no stone unturned towards ensuring that Ekiti people live in
safe, clean and hygienic environment however implored residents to
play their own part by ensuring regular clearing of their environment,
drainages and water ways to allow free flow of water whenever it
rains.
While expressing worry over indiscriminate dumping of refuse across
the streets of Ado-Ekiti, Mr. Agbeyo urged the residents of the
metropolis to always make good use of the communal bins provided by
government.
