Ekiti government reviews Fayose’s last minutes appointments
Assures affected employees of fairness
Ekiti State Government has assured all those employed in the twilight
of the last administration of fairness in the ongoing review of their
employments.
The State Commissioner for Information, Tourism and Values
Orientation, Aare Muyiwa Olumilua gave this assurance in Ado-Ekiti
while addressing a group of physically challenged people that were
affected by the last minute appointment exercise of the last
administration.
Noting that though the appointments did not go through necessary due
process involving biometrics, the Commissioner said that the State
Executive set up a committee headed by the Deputy Governor, Otunba
Bisi Egbeyemi to review the appointments and also determine available
vacancies within the public service.
Aare Olumilua added that the committee had since concluded its
assignment, stressing that government would soon take decisive verdict
on the issue.
The Commissioner said that no fewer than 600 teachers were recruited
to the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) while 400 personnel were
employed by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and
1,000 by the Ministry of Establishment.
Reiterating the commitment of the Fayemi-led administration to the
welfare of people in the State and generation of employment
opportunities particularly for the youths, Olumilua assured that
available vacancies would be equitably filled without prejudice and
undue political consideration.
