Ekiti lawmakers approve Finance Commissioner, Attorney-General.
Ekiti State House of Assembly has confirmed Mr Dapo Kolawole and Mr Olawale Fapohunda as Commissioner for Finance and Attorney General/ Commissioner for Justice respectively.
The two commissioners were confirmed Thursday, after their screening by the lawmakers following a letter by the Governor, earlier in the week, requesting their screening and confirmation for the positions.
Fapohunda, a human rights lawyer was Ekiti State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice between 2012 and 2014.
Kolawole, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN), served as Commissioner for Finance during Fayemi’s first tenure.
They would be sworn in at a later date.
The Assembly at its plenary in Ado Ekiti on Thursday also endorsed Fayemi’s request for the appointment of 10 Special Advisers.
The Speaker, Adeniran Alagbada, who read a letter from the governor to his colleagues at the plenary , urged them to adequately look into the request for smooth running of government .
The two commissioner nominees were grilled by members of the House and were deemed qualified for membership of the State Executive Council. The lawmakers unanimously agreed that both men had served the state in the past and performed creditably
well.
The Deputy Speaker , Segun Adewumi, charged the two commissioner nominees to use their influence to attract businesses to improve the economy of the state instead of overtaxing the people.
