EKITI NUJ CRISIS: Akogun Oguntayo appreciated Olumilua for his fatherly role & timely intervention by Kayode Joseph.
The Ekiti State commissioner for Information Aare Muyiwa Olumilua has appealed to all aggrieved members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Ekiti State Council to embrace peace and reconcile with the leadership of the union.
Aare Olumilua made the appeal during a meeting with leaders of the union and the aggrieved members from the Information and BSES chapels.
The two chapels BSES and Information had walked away from the union since 2017 after they lost out in the council’s election to the Rotimi Ojomoyela Liberation Group who at them got the support of seven other chapels out of nine chapels that made up the council.
Addressing the gathering Aare Olumilua said he was not happy that the union was having a divided house as such was not the best even for his office as the leader of the communication sector.
According to him, there is no crisis that cannot be resolved hence the need for all concerned parties to burry their grieviances and come together as one for the interest of the union and the state at large.
In his contribution, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media Akogun Tai Oguntayo who was able to give a background information to the issue being a former chairman stressed the need for the information and BSES chapels to change their approach and style of politics so as to achieve their targets of producing a chairman in future.
Akogun Oguntayo appreciated the commissioner for his fatherly role and timely intervention promising him that all necessary steps would be taken to finally resolve the issue.
Earlier the Chairman of NUJ Ekiti State Council Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela also thanked the commissioner for the peace move saying he had at first extended olive branch to the aggrieved parties but he withdrew when he noticed the bias and interest of some personalities involved.
However Comrade Ojomoyela said he was ready to welcome the aggrieved members into the union as soon as they show interest.
Some representatives of BSES and Information chapel including Rotimi Feyisina Kelechi David, Abiodun Olofe A.O Babalola and Qazeem Oladapo also commended the commissioner for the intervention with a promise to meet with their members for the next line of action.
