EKITI PUBLIC SERVICE JOURNAL ESSENTIAL TO WORKERS’ CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT – HOS
Ekiti State Head of Service, Mrs Olapeju Babafemi has hailed the Editorial Board of the State Public Service journal, The Fountain Bureaucrat, for preparing contents that have aided the capacity development of the State workforce.
The Head of Service who held a meeting with the Board on Thursday said the journal has provided more intellectual contributions to the State public service by its contents which range from a number of topics on public service matters, activities of the State government and other agenda-setting issues.
Mrs Babafemi who was the pioneer Editor-in -Chief of the journal said the journal became necessary so that workers could keep themselves abreast of developments in the Pubic Service.
The Head of Service who is also the Chairman and Publisher of the Journal urged members of the Editorial Board not to rest on their oars but work tirelessly for the sustenance of the publication.
“The Fountain Bureaucrat is dear to me because it has made intellectual contributions to the Public Service. It is imperative for staff to read and keep themselves abreast of development in the Service. I want to charge members of the Board in the various offices you are, not to rest on your oars. It is necessary to reconstitute the Board but how to sustain the journal is very important, and the burden is on us all as a Board”, she said.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of Establishment and Service Matters who is also the Vice Chairman of the Board, Mr Bayo Opeyemi had briefed the Head of Service on the activities of the Board in the last one year.
Mr Opeyemi who expressed optimism that the journal would thrive further under Babafemi’s leadership having served earlier as Editor-in-Chief and later as Chairman of the Board during her tenure as acting Head of Service said the Board must leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the journal continues to be available on news-stands and public offices for a more efficient public service.
The Editor-in-Chief and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Value Orientation, Dr Adekunbi Obaisi presented the report of the efforts of the Board on the last edition of the journal.
Dr Obaisi who noted that the Board members are aware that it is the prerogative of the Head of Service to reconstitute the Board said members are gratefully prepared for the rejig having been given the opportunity to serve on the Board.
She assured the Publisher of unflinching support of the Board towards production of subsequent editions.
