Ekiti State Single Register (SR) has now increased to 60,267.
The Ekiti State Coordinator of the Youth Employment and Social Support
Operation (YESSO), Mr Otewogbola made this known in Ado after the
Community Based Targeting (CBT) Team and enumerators completed the
data collation of the poor and the vulnerable households across 6
Local Government Areas of the State.
Otewogbola stated that the 7200 welfare data of the poor and the
vulnerable Data were collated during the 9th round of the CBT
exercise in Ado, Oye, Ido -Osi Gbonyin, Ekiti West and Ekiti East.
He explained that the 9th round of the community Based Targeting (CBT)
exercise has increase the number of the SR from 53,067 to 60,276.
The YESSO Coordinator who explained that the exercise will not only
produce a single register of the poor and the vulnerable but at the
same time increase the chances of the State government and interested
partners to draw more beneficiaries for any Social Intervention
Programmes with the aim of reducing poverty and create job
opportunities for the unemployed youths in Ekiti State.
He added further that the beneficiaries of Public Work Fare (PWF),
Skill for Job (S4J) and the Special Grant for the elderly and the
physically challenged will be extracted from the Single Register.
Otewogbola appreciated the efforts of Governor John Kayode Fayemi
led-administration in supporting the programme that is geared towards
creating employment opportunities and reducing poverty in Ekiti State.
Speaking on behalf of the Heads of Community Departments of the 6
Local Governments of the State where the CBT exercises took place,
Mrs. Agnes Awe (Gbonyin) and Mrs Omowumi Ariyo (Ekiti West), stated
that the large data that were created will help a long way in reducing
poverty in the state.
They also encouraged the state government not to relent in the efforts
at partnering with the Federal Government and the World Bank on
programmes that will improve the lives of Ekiti people.
