
The model schools recently commissioned by Ekiti State Governor, Dr.
Kayode Fayemi have commenced academic activities.
The model schools include Ayo Fasanmi Model School, Ilokun, Banji
Akintoye Model School and David Oke Model School all situated in Ado
Ekiti, the state capital.
Addressing parents and guardians, the Commissioner for Education,
Science and Technology, Dr Olabimpe Aderiye mni who appealed to
parents to allow their children attend classes reminded them that
first term academic activities commenced on Monday 26th October 2020
adding that government is committed to quality education for all
school age children.
The Special Adviser, Basic Secondary Education (Vocational, Technical
and Girl Child Education), Prof. Francisca Aladejana appreciated
government for building good edifices that can compete with any school
in Nigeria and encouraged parents to allow their children resume
school immediately as schools are ready and open for admission.
While addressing the newly posted teachers, the Chairman Teaching
Service Commission, Hon. Babatunde Abegunde charged them to be
diligent and shun all forms of indiscipline as government is
determined to reward hard work.
One of the Commissioners in the Teaching Service Commission, Hon.
Victor Irewolede in his remarks enjoined the pioneering teachers to
put in their best to make the schools a model worthy of emulation
academically, morally and even in extra-curricular activities.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Science and Technology
Mr. James Owolabi appreciated the government for building the schools
and charged teachers and students to utilize and maintain the
facilities in the school.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission,
Mr Olusesan Alabi charged the teachers to live up to expectation by
laying a solid foundation of sound education for the model schools to
make them point of reference to other schools in the state.
