Ekiti State Government will soon inaugurate a Price Regulatory
Committee to curb excessive hike in price of goods and services in the
State.
The Chief of Staff to Governor Kayode Fayemi, Hon. Biodun Omoleye made
this known during the monthly Joint Account Allocation Committee
(JAAC) meeting held in Ado Ekiti.
Hon. Omoleye, who decried the high rate of price of commodities in
Ekiti compared to neighboring states, said the committee will look
into the remote causes of the hike with the intention to reduce the
price.
According to him, the state government had been meeting with
stakeholders in bringing down the prices of commodity most especially
during this festive period and beyond.
He enjoined all stakeholders to join hands with the state government
towards making life more meaningful to the citizenry.
In his address, the State Commissioner for Local Government, Prof.
Adio Folayan also called on local government chairmen to intensify
effort at improving the internally generated revenue in all their
councils.
Prof. Folayan charged the Council bosses on the need for them to take
ownership of the project in their areas in line with the commitment of
the Fayemi administration to spread the dividend of democracy to all
the nooks and crannies of Ekiti State.
The chief of staff added that people should observe Covid-19 protocol
during the festive period and avoid crowded areas as the pandemic is
still in existence, adding that the local government bosses should be
security conscious and maintain peace and order at their domains.
