
Ekiti State government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that
the Covid-19 pandemic becomes a thing of the past.
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Mojisola
Yaya-Kolade gave this assurance while declaring open a 20-day training
for all health officials in the state.
Dr. Yaya – Kolade noted that most of the state’s health officials were
already informed about Covid-19 stressing that the training would
strengthen their capability as the state was sending them out as the
state’s ambassadors to tackle the Pandemic.
“The government is proud of this team. We have achieved great things
with this set of health workers and as a government, we appreciates
all the good efforts you have put into ending this Virus”. The
commissioner commended.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of
Health and Human Services, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi noted that the
training would run for 20 days for all health workers in the state
adding that the programme was designed in a way to ensure that
participants were equipped with requisite knowledge to deal with the
Corona virus and other viral diseases.
In their contributions, the Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Hospital
Management Board, Dr. Williams Afolabi and his counterpart from Ekiti
State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Pharmacist Olabisi
Arogundade charged the participants to teach WHO protocols such as
social distancing, regular hand washing, using of sanitizers and face
masks when they get back to their various facilities to stop the
community spread of the Virus.
Also speaking at the training, the Ekiti state coordinator of WHO, Dr.
Kolude hinted that the Organization was partnering the state to ensure
that the health workers were properly trained to combat the disease.
