To EKSU and all stakeholders
As at today, 16th of April, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, has 29 students all from French Department, Faculty of Arts, who are technically helpless in the University De Lome, Togo.
These students of 20 girls and 9 boys, have been in Togo for an academic program since 28th of January this year, but unfortunately were caught by the declaration of 3 months Covid-19 lockdown by the Togolese government.
As I was reliability informed by one of the participants, in terms of feeding, these students are most times at the mercy of their Ghanian counterparts who are well cared for by their university and Ghanian ambassador to Togo. Meanwhile, the affected students tried all efforts to reach out to Nigerian Embassy in Togo, but all in vain.
We call on the management of EKSU, Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dean of Faculty of Arts, Head of Department of French, OSUA/UNAD/EKSU Alumni President, Leaders of Students in EKSU, Ekiti, Zonal and in Nigeria at large, former students’ leaders of UNAD/EKSU and all well meaning Nigerians to kindly prevail on this issue.
I have huge confidence in the management of our prestigious Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, that something impressive will be done to this effect. These students must not be left feeding from the crumbs of Ghanian students owing to this restriction. They must not be failed!
Thanks,
Saliu Akeem Idowu (Candid),
EKSU Alumnus.
