We won July 14 poll by God’s mercy, Erelu Fayemi says
…enjoins Nigerian women to always wait on God during hardtimes
Wife of Ekiti State governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi has attributed the victory of her husband, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, at the last July 14 , 2018 governorship poll in the state to God’s mercy shown to herself and her husband during challenging times.
Erelu Fayemi who shared her testimony at the annual women conference programme tagged: “Women on the Winning Edge 2019”
being hosted by Rev Funke Felix Adejumo of Agape Church in Lagos on Saturday, said her resolve to wait on God with absolute trust in His powers saw her family through trying times and ultimately handed victory to Governor Fayemi.
The programme was attended by other First Ladies such as that of Kwara State, Deaconess Omolewa Armed, Lagos, Bolanle Ambode, and also former First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola and Arch Jumoke Adenowo among other distinguished women.
Speaking about the challenging times she experienced before her husband’s victory, Erelu Fayemi said: “Many of those who have been following the political terrain in Ekiti can attest to the challenges we went through but out of which we were victorious. We appreciate you for always praying for us, all of you and those with us from Ekiti State.
” I can assure you that last year has been the most challenging year, ” she hinted.
But using a Biblical passage, Psalm 27, which expresses gratitude to God for His mercy and favour in times of trouble, to substantiate her testimony, she said: “God’s Mercies come with their conditions, and they are that If God has shown you mercy you need to show mercy to others and when he shows you favour you have to show favour to others. If you are not doing this, it shows you are not been grateful to God.
” …Wait on the Lord, and be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart , That has been my testimony, waiting on the Lord and being of good courage. Working without fear Because the Lord God has promised me that the truth will always prevail and I will triumph. So dear brothers and sisters, I want to assure you that whatever is troubling your heart, this year, I pray that as the Lord has done for so many of us here, your prayers will be answered,” she said.
The Convener of the program Rev. Mrs. Funke -Felix Adejumo, a cleric, explained the inspiration behind the program, saying: ” God spoke to my heart that many women are not happy they have lost their dances, some of them because they got into wrong marriage, wrong husbands, many of them are depressed and God said I should gather them together , He wants to restore their dignity. The first day, we preached to them and the second day they danced. A woman is beautiful and should not be oppressed.
” No women should sit on the fence, grab your PVC, join a political party that you like their ideology, values, and participate in politics. Women should rise up and they are rising up and we are supporting them,” she said.
