Fayemi approves construction of Police post in Iyemero-Ekiti
• Vows to bring perpetrators to book.
The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has commiserated with the
traditional ruler and the entire people of Iyemero-Ekiti in Ikole
Local Government area of the State over attack on some innocent
citizens by yet-to-be identified assailants where two lives were lost
saying the perpetuators of the heinous crime will be fished out and
made to face the music.
Dr. Fayemi during a condolence visit to the palace of the Olu of
Iyemero, Oba Ebenezer Ogungbemi, said he has approved immediate
construction of a security post in the area to curtail incessant
attacks on innocent people in the area.
The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Information,
Tourism, and Values Orientation, Aare Muyiwa Olumilua noted that the
community, being a border town with neighbouring Kogi and Kwara States
makes it more susceptible to attacks, hence, the urgent need to
fortify the security of the area.
While sympathizing with the victims and their families, Dr. Fayemi,
who promised that the state would foot the hospital bills of affected
persons, urged the people to go about their daily businesses without
any fear of being molested or attacked again adding that the
construction of the security, which has already commenced, will be
completed within the shortest possible period.
Advising the community members not to resort to self-help as it would
be an act of irresponsibility to fight crime with crime, Fayemi
promised to expedite action on the completion of the bridge linking
the community which he initiated during his first tenure.
In his address of welcome, the Olu of Iyemero, Oba Ebenezer Agboola
Ogungbemi, who expressed profound gratitude to the governor, noticed
the Governor’s connection with the town, as notable dividends of
democracy enjoyed by the community were initiated by the Governor.
The Royal Father, who hoped that the construction of the new security
post in the area would bring necessary succour to the area, allayed
the fear of his people on further attack.
