Fayemi clears N3.3billion UBEC’s outstanding counterpart funds
Procured 17 motorcycles for technical officers
The Ekiti State Government has paid the outstanding counterpart fund
of N3.3 billion for the year 2016 , 2017 and 2018 UBEC/SUBEB projects
which the immediate past administration in the state neglected
throughout its four years in office.
The Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board
(SUBEB), Dr. (Mrs.) Eunice Oladimeji, who made this known in Ado-
Ekiti during a Bid opening ceremony of the 2014/2015 UBEC/ SUBEB
Projects urged the contractors who are successful in the process to
work according to specification and contractual agreement as the Board
would not hesitate to enforce the rules guiding the procedures for the
execution of UBEC/SUBEB Projects.
She added that contractors who fail to work in strict compliance with
the agreement reached with the Board will be blacklisted and made to
refund the money into the government coffers.
Oladimeji noted that as part of steps at ensuring proper monitoring of
the Projects , the Board had procured 17 motorcycles for technical
officers that would monitor the projects located in all the 16 Local
Government areas of the State.
The Permanent Secretary also disclosed that all necessary arrangements
have been concluded by the Board to pay contractors the outstanding
balance owed them on the 2012 /2013 UBEC /SUBEB Projects.
Also speaking , the Zonal Coordinator of the Universal Basic Education
Commission (UBEC) in Ekiti State , Mr Joshua Arema, who commended the
Kayode Fayemi-led administration for complying with UBEC policies and
programmes assured of the UBEC’s steady and continued collaboration
with the Ekiti SUBEB with the aim of improving service delivery and
making basic education accessible to children of school age in the
State.
