Fayemi government to resuscitate abandoned Women Skills Acquisition Centres
The Three hitherto abandoned Women Skills Acquisition Institutions
built by the Federal Government and handed over to the Ekiti State
Government in 2018 will soon be resuscitated and make functional by
the the government of Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social
Development, Mrs. Foluke Adeyemo gave this indication when she visited
the institutions.
Mrs Adeyemo, who identified the institutions to include the Women
Development Skills Acquisition Centre in Ado-Ekiti, Women Development
Skills Acquisition Centre at Ipoti-Ekiti and the Cassava Cottage
Industry located at Osin-Ekiti expressed her displeasure at the
vandalization of the facilities.
The Permanent Secretary charged residents in communities where the
facilities are located to secure them, noting the vulnerability of the
facilities consequent upon their neglect.
She noted that the rescucitation and effective utilization of the
facilities would put a stop to the actions of the vandals and make the
Centres generate funds into the coffers of government.
Speaking earlier, the Zonal Officer for Ijero, Mrs Modupe Olujobi, who
claimed to be the only staff working in the Zonal Office lamented the
poor condition of the building they use as office.
Mrs. Olujobi, however requested for a better office accomodation and
staffing of the Institution.
Facilities visited by the Permanent Secretary include Ijero Social
Welfare Zonal Office, Women Development Skills and Acqusition Centre,
Ipoti, Ido Social Welfare Zonal office, Ikole Social Welfare Zonal
Office and Cassava Cottage Industry at Osin-Ekiti.
